Observation
Causes:
Hypoglycaemia during peak lactation compensated by excessive weight loss, de-mineralization, especially in winter. Metabolic Type no 3 with deficiency in rapidly digested carbohydrates. Metabolic Type no 7, deficiency in soluble nitrogen during peak lactation.
Treatment
Protocol:
A) First identify and correct causes: Acidify the pH if the water is too alkaline. If the ovaries are small, avoid using iodine teat dip. Labo Solidago has many possible protocols depending on the specific issue for example: LEUCOSOL for leucosis. We can help you with all kinds of problems such as Neospora, please ask for our protocols.
Drain if necessary with LIVERSOL and DRAINSOL.
For rumen instability: MOD6SOL.
For acidosis: MOD4SOL.
For demineralization: MINSOL and MOD2SOL.
For true hypoglycaemia (anoestrus): MOD5SOL
Specific Protocol:
B) Silent heat and anoestrus: HEATSOL twice a day for 3 days, then twice a week until in heat. (Also correct the cause.)
C) If there is excessive iodine, small ovaries or luteinic cysts, instead of HEATSOL, give CYCLESOL twice a day for 3 days, then twice a week until in heat. To increase the odds for pregnancy, give LIVERSOL, twice, MINSOL and SEPTISOL just before and after breeding, then HEATSOL during breeding. This is valid in the absence of uterine infection or cloudy discharge; otherwise this infection must first be treated with METSOL and SEPTISOL, if the discharge is white, use METSOL and SEPTISOL once a day, every 3 days, for 1 to 3 weeks.
