Supports respiratory and skin health of mucous membranes during the summer period.

Just like some of us, did you know that our cats, dogs and horses can also suffer from allergies?

What is an allergy?

It is the immune system that reacts excessively to a foreign substance ( allergen ) with which it has already been in contact.

...and a contact allergy?

Contact dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin caused by direct contact with irritants or allergens.

Here are the most common causes of allergies in your pet:

  • Food allergies - in this case, consult an animal nutritionist who will be able to answer your questions appropriately.
  • Contact allergy (skin reaction following contact for example with a chemical product such as soap, cleaning products, fabric softener, chemical perfume, etc.
  • Allergies to pollen , dust mites, ragweed, grasses, and molds. Birch and aspen are also very common allergens.
  • Flea bite allergies (sensitivity to flea saliva)
  • Allergies caused by pesticides, herbicides, be careful with lawns that have just been watered.
  • Atopic dermatitis (including seasonal allergies)
  • It's also possible that it's a genetic predisposition. If one or both parents suffer from seasonal allergies, the likelihood is greater that your pet will be hypersensitive to allergens. Furthermore, be aware that some dog breeds are more susceptible to seasonal allergies than others, such as golden retrievers and boxers.
  • Allergy caused by a mixture of too many vaccines and medications

What are the most common symptoms?

The symptoms of allergies are quite obvious: your dog or cat scratches ( pruritus ) and licks itself intensely so that the hair falls out, sores appear, it bites itself, sneezes, drags its bottom on the ground, its eyes are watery, etc.

In horses, one in ten owners will recognize the dreaded equine summer dermatitis, with its itching and hair loss, caused by a hypersensitivity of some equines to allergens present in the saliva of midges of the Culicoides genus. Also noteworthy is the very common emphysema in horses , which results from a hypersensitivity of the lungs to inhaled allergens. It is similar to human asthma and has allergic and inflammatory components .

In short, the main symptom of an animal suffering from allergies is itching. However, as if that weren't enough, the itching is often accompanied by other equally unpleasant symptoms such as external ear infections, conjunctivitis, and rhinitis, to name just a few.

With your veterinarian, it's important to confirm that the itching is indeed allergic in origin by checking for parasites, yeast, and bacteria, and treating them if present. Also, be aware that these symptoms of itching might not be related to stress, anxiety, or a change in routine!

If the itching persists, antihistamines, cortisone, immunosuppressants, and anti-itch medications may be used, each with its own set of side effects and contraindications. Unfortunately, the effects of these allergies generally return immediately after treatment is stopped.

HoliAller will not remove allergens or allergenic factors from the environment, but it allows each organism to effectively cope with allergic reactions and symptoms.
