Helps maintain a healthy musculoskeletal system.

What are the characteristics of trauma?

Trauma refers to any injury sustained, whether intentional or not, resulting from an impact, blow, or pressure.

The WHO (World Health Organization) defines trauma as "physical damage sustained by a body when it is suddenly exposed to amounts of energy (mechanical, thermal, chemical, radiant) that exceed the physiological tolerance threshold or deprived of one or more vital elements (oxygen, heat)".

Psychological trauma is a persistent emotional reaction often following an extremely distressing life event. Experiencing a traumatic event can compromise the ability to regulate emotions and navigate relationships with others.

In our animals, we encounter osteoarticular traumas such as sprains, dislocations, strains, elongations, or even fractures, as well as shocks and contusions (bruises or hematomas), injuries, and cuts, to name just the main ones.

In the event of trauma or a wound, it is important to address pain, infections, re-weld bones, strengthen ligaments, reduce swelling, and regenerate tissues.

We must also not forget that physical trauma can also develop into psychological trauma.

Here are some examples experienced by our team that will surely resonate with you!

We introduce Marojenié, Léa's husky.

Marojenié, world champion in the Sofa nap category, remains intrepid, as his distant lupine origins would have it. This morning during a walk, he tried to catch a deer. It should be noted that Léa, who has 6 huskies, has accustomed her dogs to recall since their arrival so as not to "fly" them on a leash.

Marojénié, having suddenly grown wings on his back, covered more than 10 km (GPS collar) at 8 km/h, whereas normally, an hour sniffing herbs, 20 minutes sniffing the social networks of his peers left in the hollow of a tree trunk or on a wall or fence post, demands a lot of energy (especially since the arrival of Tik Tok and all those pretty huskettes wiggling to catchy music to promote the merits of the latest fried chicken-scented foundation, a must, apparently!) so he responds very sluggishly to his human's insistent recalls (who has lost her voice). Some will also see in this a notorious "I-don't-care" attitude from the dog who leads his enamored human by the nose.

Obviously, to each their sport, and the chase is not part of the sofa nap training program. Once recovered by his mistress, who went to fetch him after tramping through the woods, covered in scratches from brambles and bruises - I quote her: "because the muddy ground is slippery on descents and I was wearing flip-flops (sandals in Quebecois), I panicked!" - she had to carry him because in addition to being out of breath, his legs were stiff. So she called the new osteopath in her village, highly appreciated by Tayoune (the gray female on the left).

We also gathered that during this encounter, the osteopath and Léa had fallen in love... this is a beautiful trauma that no one will seek to heal!

We also have the example of Pétronille, a 4-year-old cat who unfortunately falls from the roof to catch a wood pigeon... It must be said that this pigeon had been taunting her for a few days, and she wasn't too pleased to have a soft pigeon dropping land on her belly during her nap, her favorite sleeping spot being directly below the pigeon's preferred perch.

Still Pétronille, with her pretty sock hat to limit the bleeding from her scratches, including a nasty infected abscess on the top of her head. Madame decided to take a vacation, escaping for 15 days. She had some bad encounters!

Before/after

We also have paw pad injuries when a devious, evil stone purposely slips under your dog's or cat's paw. Fight wounds... in this regard, we present DAMA who fought with another dog in her group for a piece of... green bean. 2.5 hours of high-end care at the vet.

And that's without mentioning the gashes on horses' chests when they mistake barbed wire for a scratching post...

The examples cited were indeed experienced by our team. You certainly have just as many examples at home!

HoliTrauma is designed to "limit the damage" as they say across the Atlantic.
